The Vedupadi Utsavam was celebrated with great devotion at the Srirangam Ranganathar Temple following the Vaikunta Ekadasi festivities. As part of the ritual, Namperumal graced devotees by arriving on a golden horse vahanam, while the symbolic enactment associated with Thirumangai Azhwar was performed in front of the Thousand-Pillar Mandapam.
The festival recalls the sacred legend in which Thirumangai Azhwar, after spending all his wealth in service to Lord Vishnu, resorted to symbolic robbery to continue his devotion. It was during this moment that Namperumal blessed him with the sacred mantra “Om Namo Narayanaya”, redeeming him. The Vedupadi Utsavam remains a key highlight of the Rappathu celebrations, drawing large numbers of devotees who witnessed the event with deep spiritual emotion.
