On the occasion of Margazhi month Pradosham, special worship was performed at the Thanjavur Brihadeeswarar Temple, popularly known as the Thanjavur Big Temple. As part of the observance, Maha Nandi (Mahanandhi) Peruman received a special abhishekam, drawing a large number of devotees for darshan.
The Arulmigu Brihadeeswarar Temple, along with Periyanayagi Amman, is a world-famous Shaivite shrine where Pradosham worship is conducted every month with devotion. Marking the first Pradosham of the Margazhi month, priests performed abhishekam to Maha Nandi using offerings brought by devotees, including turmeric, milk, curd, honey, sandalwood, fruit items, sugarcane juice, rice flour, and other sacred materials.
Following the abhishekam, Maha Nandi was decorated with flowers, and a Maha Deeparadhana was performed. According to tradition, witnessing Pradosham worship is believed to remove doshas and bring prosperity. Devotees gathered in large numbers to participate in the rituals and seek blessings.
