Ahead of the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival, Southern Railway has announced a temporary halt for four express trains at Srirangam Railway Station to facilitate devotees visiting the holy town.
Temporary Halt for Express Trains
According to an official statement released by Southern Railway, the following four express trains will halt for two minutes each at Srirangam railway station from December 28 to December 30:
Chennai Egmore – Kanyakumari Express
Tambaram – Kollam Express (Kerala)
Chennai Egmore – Thoothukudi Express
Chennai Egmore – Madurai Pandian Express
This special arrangement has been made exclusively in view of the Vaikunta Ekadasi celebrations at Srirangam.
Train Service Changes Due to Track Maintenance
In a separate announcement, the Chennai Railway Division stated that track upgradation work will be carried out at the Olakkur Railway Yard near Tindivanam on December 26 and 27.
Modified Train Services
Due to the maintenance work:
Tambaram – Villupuram Passenger (9:45 AM) will operate only up to Tozhuppedu
Villupuram – Chennai Beach Passenger (1:40 PM) will be operated from Tozhuppedu instead of Villupuram
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and check updated train schedules before travel.
