Kidneys are important organs in our body and it is necessary that we must have good kidney health for our lives to be normal. Many factors contribute to kidney damage in us. Kidney patients with severe damage would need dialysis is known.
To help the kidney patients to get dialysis at free or at heavily subsidised rates, RCCC or Rotary Club of Chennai Capital in collaboration with Madras West Round Table-10 or MWRT-10 have launched second phase of dialysis centre within the Satyalok Shanti Lulla MWRT-10 RCC Tanker Foundation Dialysis Centre in Porur. Information collected is that the 5000 sq feet facility now has as many as 19 state-of-art dialysis machines capable of treating more than 126 patients on rotation.
The centre was inaugurated by the health minister Mr. M. Subramanian. Others who made their presence felt were Mr. K.Ganapathi MLA, Maduravoyal constituency, Rotarian Mr. Mahaveer Bothra and Mr. Kunal Chowdari, area chairman.
The main objective behind this project would be to provide free or heavily subsidised dialysis care to the underprivileged kidney patients. Till now, more than 8200 dialysis sessions have been provided to the kidney damaged patients.
It was later explained by Mr. Hemant Kandelwal, president RCCC the world must be more conscious of kidney related problems. He spoke about how the motto of the Rotary was `Service Above Self` and this dialysis centre epitomizes the spirit. It must be noted that healthcare is a fundamental human right. He concluded that the dialysis centre brings the Rotary club closer to ensuring the right for the community.
Through a global grant of Rotary foundation, RCCC has raised more than Rs 2.5 crores as the primary donor and implementing partner. The infrastructure for the dialysis centre was provided by MWRT-10.
