Tiruttani Murugan Temple Celebrates Annual "Padi Thiruvizha"
At the Tiruttani Murugan Temple, the traditional Padi Thiruvizha was celebrated with grandeur today, as it does every year on the final day of December. The festival is marked by devotees climbing the 365 sacred steps, symbolizing each day of the year, lighting camphor and offering prayers on every step.
The event began at the foothill with special rituals at the first step, followed by devotees singing Thiruppugazh, Thevaram, Thiruvasagam, and devotional hymns as they ascended towards the hilltop shrine. In honour of the festival and the New Year, the temple will remain open throughout the night, with a midnight special darshan planned for devotees.
This morning, Lord Murugan (Utsavar) was taken in procession on the Silver Peacock Vahana through the streets, blessing thousands of worshippers who gathered in devotion.
