The Sri Parthasarathy Swami Temple at Triplicane (Tiruvallikeni) is one of Chennai’s oldest and most revered Divya Desams, dating back over 1,000-2,000 years and praised in the Azhwars’ Divya Prabandhams.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Parthasarathy (Krishna as Arjuna’s charioteer) and also houses shrines for:
- Lord Narasimha
- Lord Ranganatha
- Lord Rama
- Lord Gajendra Varadar
A unique feature of the temple is the west-facing Narasimha shrine with a separate flagstaff.
The sacred Kairavini Pushkarini (lily tank) gives Tiruvallikeni its name and is believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Vedavalli (Mahalakshmi).
