Starting tomorrow, May 1, 2025, several key changes will come into effect across banking, railway bookings, gas prices, and interest rates. Here`s a summary of what to expect:
ATM Transaction Charges Increased
From May 1:
- In metropolitan cities, only 3 free ATM transactions will be allowed per month.
- In other cities, 5 free transactions will be permitted.
- Beyond the limit, each transaction will be charged Rs. 23 + tax (previously Rs. 21).
- Balance enquiries will now cost Rs. 7 (earlier Rs. 6).
Train Ticket Booking Rules Updated
As per the new IRCTC rules:
- Waitlist tickets will now be valid only for general coaches.
- Waitlist travel in Sleeper and AC coaches will not be allowed.
- The advance booking period has been reduced from 120 days to 60 days.
LPG Cylinder Price Revision
- LPG prices are revised on the first of every month.
- A new rate will be announced on May 1, 2025, which could lead to a price hike or reduction in gas cylinder rates.
Changes in Bank Interest Rates
- Due to two consecutive repo rate cuts by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), many banks have announced:
- Reduced interest rates on savings accounts
- Lower returns on Fixed Deposits (FDs)
