Republic Day 2026: Marina Beach Declared Red Zone by Chennai Police
Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, the Chennai City Police have declared the Marina Beach area as a Red Zone to ensure tight security arrangements.
The Republic Day function will be held near the Labour Statue at Marina Beach. As part of precautionary measures, the police have imposed a ban on flying drones, microlight aircraft, paragliders, paramotors, hand gliders, and hot air balloons within Chennai city limits on January 25 and 26.
Key areas including the Marina Beach stretch, major roads leading to the venue, and important routes in the city have been designated as Red Zones. Multi-layered police security has been deployed in and around the event area.
Traffic restrictions will be in place on Kamarajar Salai, from the Gandhi Statue to the War Memorial, from 6 AM until the end of the event. Motorists are advised to follow traffic diversions announced by the Chennai Traffic Police.
