Today, Civil Defence Training and Demo will take place in Koodankulam Thermal Plant and in north Chennai Thermal Plant, Unit 2 in Athipattu!!
The news is that today civil defence training and demo would take place in Kudankulam thermal power plant and in north Chennai thermal power plant, unit-2 in Athipattu in Chennai.
The TN govt has issued a statement in this regard and it was mentioned that as per the instructions of the Union Home Ministry it has been decided to conduct a civil defence training and demonstration/exercise in some important places. In this regard, on 6th of May a review meeting was held with various departments and institutions belonging to the Union and state government under the leadership of the chief secretary of TN. Civil defence training and demonstration was held on 7th May and 8th May 2025.
It is learnt that in continuation of the above a civil defence training and demo would be held at Kudankulam based thermal power plant and at north Chennai based thermal power plant unit-2 in Athipattu around 4pm in the evening. In this demonstration or exercise activity today, readiness to face enemy attacks plus handling emergency situations etc would be tested.
The demo or exercise would be coordinated by the State Emergency Operation Centre. It is worthy to note that in the demo or exercise district authorities plus others like State Task Force, Home Guards, Chennai Metropolitan Force, TN Fire and rescue Services, TN Disaster Response Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Scouts & Guides Movement, National Scout Movement, National Service Scheme Volunteers and medical teams would take part.
Note:
There is no need for the public to feel nervous or fear regarding this exercise because this civil defence training and demo would just be a test to check the preparedness of selected key locations.
