The India Meteorological Department – Chennai has reported that Northeast Monsoon rainfall in Tamil Nadu is 3% below normal up to today.
The Northeast Monsoon season, which runs from October to December, is nearing its end this month. Since its onset in October, the monsoon has brought widespread rainfall across several parts of Tamil Nadu, though overall figures remain slightly below average.

Normal rainfall: 440 mm
Actual rainfall till date: 427 mm
Deviation: 3% below normal
Chennai Rainfall Status
Normal rainfall: 807 mm
Actual rainfall till date: 725 mm
Deviation: 10% below normal
Despite the shortfall, officials noted that rainfall distribution was fairly widespread across the state, helping maintain water levels in many regions. However, meteorologists continue to monitor weather patterns closely as the monsoon season concludes.
