The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Tamil Nadu voter list has reached its final stage, with the deadline for submitting enumeration forms ending on Thursday, December 11. According to the Election Commission of India, out of 6,40,84,624 forms distributed, 6,38,25,877 forms (99.55%) have already been successfully uploaded as of Tuesday.

Across the country, several states have achieved near-complete upload progress. Lakshadweep and Madhya Pradesh recorded 100% uploads, followed by Andaman & Nicobar (99.9%), Chhattisgarh (99.96%), Puducherry (99.96%), Gujarat (99.94%), Goa (99.93%), West Bengal (99.75%), Rajasthan (99.59%), Uttar Pradesh (98.14%), and Kerala (98.04%).

Tamil Nadu Voter Update Status

The SIR exercise in Tamil Nadu began on November 4, involving 68,470 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across the state. Out of 6,41,14,587 total voters, forms have been distributed to 6,40,59,971 voters. So far, 6,38,25,877 completed forms covering address changes, duplicate entries, migrated voters, and deceased voters have been uploaded. Only 2,88,710 forms remain pending.

The Election Commission has urged all remaining voters to submit their forms before the December 11 deadline to avoid deletion or errors in the voter list.

Draft Voter List to Be Released on December 16

Once the submission window closes, names of voters who have relocated, passed away, or have duplicate registrations will be removed. The draft electoral roll will be published on December 16, and eligible citizens whose names are missing will be allowed to apply for fresh inclusion.

Exception for Kerala

Due to local body elections in Kerala, the deadline for uploading voter forms has been extended until December 18.

IAS Officers to Monitor Draft Roll Preparation

To ensure transparency and accuracy, four IAS officers appointed by the Election Commission will visit Chennai, Trichy, Coimbatore, and Madurai to supervise the draft voter list preparation process. Their role is to ensure that no eligible voter is excluded and no ineligible name is added.
