First Air-Conditioned Electric Bus Service in Chennai to Begin on August 11

For the first time, Chennai will launch an air-conditioned electric bus service starting on August 11 (Monday), announced Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) Managing Director Prabu Shankar.
As an alternative to diesel-powered buses, the Tamil Nadu government has been taking steps to introduce environmentally friendly options such as natural gas and electric buses.
In line with this initiative, the MTC has decided to operate 625 electric buses in Chennai on a contract basis, managed through five depots.
