Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Sets New World Record in Organ Donation Pledges
Sri Ramakrishna Hospital has created a new global milestone by receiving 45,861 organ donation pledges in just three months (Feb–Apr 2025), earning a world record certified by the World Records Union.
The achievement was celebrated at a special ceremony at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai, in the presence of Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, officials from TRANSTAN, and World Records Union representatives. The record-breaking campaign, launched in collaboration with TRANSTAN and NOTTO, used a mix of on-ground programs and digital campaigns to drive participation.
The majority of pledges came from Tamil Nadu and Kerala, with strong youth involvement (18–30 age group), and included commitments to donate major organs and tissues. The campaign emphasized both online and offline pledge options, reaching a wide national and international audience.
Shri R. Sundar, Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, dedicated the record to the volunteers and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to raising organ donation awareness.
