Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Moderate Rain Likely in Western Ghats; Temperatures to Rise by 3°C Across the State

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast moderate rainfall with gusty winds over isolated places in the Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday and Wednesday. At the same time, the weather department has warned that maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal could rise by up to 3°C, leading to hotter daytime conditions.

According to the latest RMC bulletin, a trough extending from south Gujarat to north Kerala is influencing weather conditions over peninsular India. This weather system is expected to trigger moderate rainfall in isolated parts of the Western Ghats districts, with gusty winds accompanying the showers in some areas.

The weather department has further stated that rainfall activity is likely to continue over the Western Ghats region from Thursday through July 12. Although widespread rainfall is not expected, the intermittent showers are likely to provide relief to hilly areas during the southwest monsoon season.

In contrast, the plains of Tamil Nadu are expected to experience warmer weather. The RMC has predicted that daytime temperatures may remain up to 3°C above normal, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and take necessary precautions during peak afternoon hours.

For Chennai, the forecast indicates partly cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain in a few localities. However, no significant rainfall is expected, and the city is likely to continue experiencing warm and humid weather.

The contrasting weather pattern across Tamil Nadu is expected to continue over the next few days, with periodic rainfall in the Western Ghats districts and above-normal temperatures across the plains. The Regional Meteorological Centre will continue to monitor the evolving weather system and issue updated advisories if weather conditions change.
