Traffic Diversions Announced in Chennai for Republic Day Rehearsals
The Greater Chennai Traffic Police has announced traffic diversions at several locations in the city in view of rehearsals for the Republic Day celebrations scheduled to be held on January 26.
Rehearsals will take place on January 19, 21, and 23 at Kamarajar Salai, Marina Beach. Traffic restrictions will be enforced on these three days as well as on Republic Day, making it a total of four days of diversion.
Accordingly, Kamarajar Salai will be closed to all vehicular traffic from the Gandhi Statue to the War Memorial from 6.00 am onwards until the rehearsal concludes (tentatively 9.30 am).
Diversions for vehicles from Adyar towards Parrys Corner:

Commercial vehicles will be diverted at Greenways Point via RK Mutt Road, Thiruvengadam Street, Devanathan Street, St. Mary’s Road, Venkatesa Agraharam Road, Dr. Ranga Road, East Abiramapuram 1st Road, Ramachandra Rao Road, Luz Avenue–Amrutanjan Junction, PS Sivasamy Salai, Nilgiris Point, Music Academy, TTK Road, Gowdia Mutt Road, Royapettah High Road, GRH Junction, Tower Clock, GP Road and Anna Salai to reach Broadway.

Other vehicles, including MTC buses, will be diverted at the Gandhi Statue via RK Salai, Nilgiris Point, Music Academy, TTK Road, Gowdia Mutt Road, Royapettah High Road, GRH Junction, Tower Clock, GP Road and Anna Salai.
Diversions from Mylapore and Royapettah:

Vehicles coming from Mylapore and Dr. Radhakrishnan Road at Royapettah I Point will be diverted. MTC buses will be routed via Nilgiris, Music Academy, TTK Road, Gowdia Mutt Road, GRH and Tower Clock. Other vehicles may take left or right turns to reach their destinations.
Other restrictions:

No vehicles will be allowed beyond the Dr. Natesan Road–Avvai Shanmugam Salai junction towards Kamarajar Salai; traffic will be diverted towards Ice House Junction.

Vehicles will not be permitted beyond the Dr. Besant Road–Kamarajar Salai junction and will be diverted at Ice House Junction towards TH Road.

Vehicles will also not be allowed beyond the Bharathi Salai–Bells Road and Wallajah Road–Bells Road junctions towards Kamarajar Salai and will be diverted via Bells Road.

Flag Staff House Road will be closed to traffic from Wallajah Point towards the War Memorial.
Public transport changes:

The Anna Square Bus Terminus will be temporarily shifted to Chintadripet Railway Station.

Vehicles travelling from Parrys Corner towards Adyar will be diverted at the RBI Subway (North) towards Raja Annamalai Mandram and further routed through Wallajah Point, Anna Salai, General PaPatters Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, West Cott Road, GRH and Royapettah High Road.
Motorists are advised to plan their travel in advance, follow traffic police instructions and use alternative routes during the rehearsal days and on Republic Day.
