Medical camps from GCC have been doing superb work for the Chennai residents!!

The NE monsoons has started and it has been raining heavily in many places in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu 

Across Chennai, medical camps have been set up now to monitor and to prevent waterborne diseases etc. It is known that in the NE monsoon season people would get affected by waterborne diseases etc. In the last 2 months, 1000 fever cases were reported in Chennai city and this was according to city health officer Dr. M. Jagadesan.

He mentioned that there has been no significant increase in the cases of dengue or waterborne diseases etc. As many as 447 medical camps were organised in Chennai from 17th October to 24th October and it also included a mobile unit also.

Many medical camps were held in low lying areas in Chennai and as many as 17960 persons got their health checked at these camps. On Friday alone, 5500 persons made their presence felt at these medical camps. The aim of these medical caps is to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.

Seasonal illnesses like fever, cough, skin infections, wounds etc are being addressed at these medical camps in Chennai. Mosquito eradication drive that has been going on in Chennai has been intensified now with GCC workers going to every house to check mosquitoes breeding places like overhead tanks, underground sumps, wells, discarded items etc. The mosquito larvae if found are destroyed immediately by these workers. It is now revealed that these preventive steps taken would prevent a surge in vector borne diseases in the city in the North East monsoon season.
