Taratdac urges government to provide adequate training to doctors

The Government hospital doctors are not able to correctly assess differently-able people to issue disability certificates.

The Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of differently-able and Caregivers’s state general secretary S Namburajan said a 20-year-old lad Chottu from Dharmapuri district, who was disabled and was unable to do his basic tasks, had been given a certificate with only 50% disability by a government hospital. The government provides financial assistance to those who have a disability of 60% or above. But in the case of Chottu, he cannot avail it as he was certified to be only 50% disabled. His mother has epilepsy and is mentally ill. They are suffering without any assistance.

In view of the foregoing, The Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers (Taratdac) has urged the state government to provide adequate training to doctors, who assess differently-able people to issue disability certificates.
