Road extension work will dent near Thandalam that locates amid Chennai-Bangalore Highway (NH 4). It crosses via many villages namely Mannur, Mevalurkuppam and Nayapakkam.
Even though the current road width is sufficient for the estimated traffic across the dry port, we will bring in a six-lane road project later, said a higher official.
The road widening work in the region of INS Rajali Naval Air Station in Arakkonam will be wrapped under Phase II, the official added.
In spite of this extension work, commuters over Chennai Port said that they wish to have outstanding railway connectivity to their area for proper functioning of the port. And we want the officials to study the possibility for the rail connectivity to their area and to own a new proposal for the same, commuters added.
A new proposal suggesting an elevated corridor across Chennai Port to Maduravayal road will be highly useful, another Port user said.
