The journey to the airport in Chennai is not a pleasant one for many!!
It is true that many people find it tough to reach the airport on time due to the traffic congestions and traffic diversions etc in Chennai. To avoid high costs in the cabs etc, people now travel in the metro trains in chennai to reach the airport on time.
Among all the public transport modes that are available in chennai metro trains are the easiest and best option. This was according to some routine commuters.
It is surprising to note that on any given day an average of 10000 passengers disembark and embark metro trains at the metro station at the airport in Chennai. This has been revealed by data from CMRL or Chennai Metro Rail Limited. Out of 10000 about 2000 passengers go to the Chennai airport every day.
Many have appreciated the effectiveness of the metro trains to reach the airport in the city. A cricketer Shebani spoke about how she takes the metro train from Teynampret to the airport and then catches a flight to her destination. She hinted that metro trains were highly convenient as she did not have to switch lines. She concluded that the travel from Teynampet to the airport in metro trains was just 30 minutes.
Metro trains are highly preferred by many residents in Chennai because of factors like its cost effectiveness, efficient operation and travel time etc. There are also few suggestions made by the frequent travellers of the metro trains to the airport such as luggage carts availability, space provision inside the metro trains to keep the luggage etc.
It was highlighted by a corporate communication expert who frequently uses the metro trains in Chennai to reach the airport that the airport metro station must have a distinct aesthetic appearance. This would benefit many local as well as foreign travellers using the metro trains to the airport. Setting up a lounge for the passengers to take rest was also suggested by some frequent travellers at the airport metro station. It was assured by an official from CMRL that the suggestions would be considered and improvements would be carried out.
