India Overtakes China in New Millionaires Created in 2025: UBS Global Wealth Report 2026

India created 31,033 new millionaires in 2025, surpassing China, which added 14,079 new millionaires, according to the UBS Global Wealth Report 2026. The report highlights India`s rapid wealth creation, with the country producing more than twice as many new millionaires as China during the year.

Despite the rise in personal wealth, the report notes that Indian investors allocate only 25.8% of their wealth to financial assets, the lowest among the countries compared. In contrast, the share stands at 78.9% in the United States, 68.9% in Japan, 54.9% in South Korea, and 51.9% in China.

The report also states that China has more than 5.3 million millionaires, while India is home to around 944,000 millionaires. The findings underline India`s strong pace of wealth creation while also pointing to differences in investment patterns compared with other major economies.
