Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple Margazhi Festival Begins
The Margazhi festival at the Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple in Kanyakumari district has officially begun, marked by the traditional flag-hoisting ceremony held yesterday morning. This temple is unique as it houses Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu as the presiding deities, making it a highly revered pilgrimage site.
The festival commenced with the Dwajarohanam (flag hoisting) performed by temple priest, in the presence of a large gathering of devotees.
From today, various processions featuring the deity will take place every morning and evening on different vahanams (holy mounts).
Key Festival Highlights
- December 27 (3rd day): Devotees’ meeting at 10:30 PM
- January 2, 2026 (9th day): Rathotsavam (Chariot Festival) at 9:15 AM, featuring the chariots of Swamy, Amman, and Pillaiyar.
The sacred Sapthavarnam ritual will be held at 12:00 midnight.

- Arudhra Darisanam at 4:00 AM
- Nataraja procession at 5:00 PM
- Aarattu (Holy Bath ritual) at 9:00 PM
