To minimize inconvenience to the public during the large-scale redevelopment of Broadway and Vallalar Nagar bus termini, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has announced plans to operate buses from temporary locations with essential facilities.
Broadway Bus Terminus: Being rebuilt into a modern facility with multi-level parking at a cost of ₹870 crore. During the project, buses will be diverted to temporary stands at Royapuram Clive Factory and Island Grounds.
Vallalar Nagar Terminus: As part of the North Chennai Development Plan, upgrades are planned. While work is underway, buses will be operated from a 1-acre GCC site at Tondiarpet Zone 5 office and a 1.5-acre TANCEM plot.
Minister P.K. Sekar Babu, who chaired the review meeting, assured that the temporary bus stands will be ready within a month.
