Chennai Metro ₹268 Cr Project: Sholinganallur-Thoraipakkam Commercial Complexes
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has awarded a ₹268.80 crore contract for the construction of integrated metro stations with commercial complexes at Sholinganallur and Thoraipakkam along Chennai’s rapidly growing IT Corridor. The project aims to improve passenger accessibility, promote transit-oriented development, and enhance non-fare revenue generation for Chennai Metro.
Under this project, Thoraipakkam Metro Station will feature a commercial complex with three basements, a ground floor, and five upper floors, while Sholinganallur Metro Station will have a basement and eight upper floors. A key highlight is the direct internal connectivity between Corridor-3 and Corridor-5 through the Sholinganallur commercial building, enabling seamless access to the metro station.
Once completed, the project will provide modern passenger amenities, uninterrupted entry and exit facilities, and integrated commercial infrastructure, reinforcing Chennai Metro’s commitment to sustainable urban growth and integrated transport solutions.
