New Government SETC Volvo Buses Launched with Affordable Fares; Routes and Prices Announced
In a move to compete with private operators, the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) has introduced new Volvo buses offering comfortable travel at comparatively lower fares. The government has officially announced the routes and fares for these newly launched buses.
Key Features of the New Volvo Buses
The new SETC Volvo buses come with a 2x2 seating arrangement and can accommodate up to 51 comfortable seats. They feature large panoramic windows for better outside views, an ergonomic driver control layout, a curved dashboard, and a wide roof escape hatch to ensure quick evacuation during emergencies.
The buses are also equipped with advanced safety systems, including FUP, FIP, and SUPD, designed to reduce the impact of frontal, rear, and side collisions.

In the initial phase, 20 state-of-the-art Volvo buses will be operated on the following routes:

- Chennai - Tirunelveli: 2 buses
- Chennai - Tiruchendur: 2 buses
- Chennai - Tiruppur: 2 buses
- Chennai - Bengaluru: 2 buses
- Chennai - Trichy: 2 buses
- Chennai - Coimbatore: 2 buses
- Coimbatore - Bengaluru: 2 buses
- Chennai - Nagercoil: 2 buses
- Chennai - Thanjavur: 1 bus
- Chennai - Salem: 1 bus
