Tamil Nadu Launches ‘Nalam Kaakkum Stalin’ Health Outreach Scheme
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has launched the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme to deliver free, doorstep healthcare across all 38 districts. Inaugurated at Saint Bede’s Anglo-Indian School, Chennai, the initiative will conduct 1,256 medical camps targeting rural and underserved communities, especially Scheduled Caste-dominated and economically weaker areas.
Beneficiaries include patients with chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and heart ailments, pregnant and lactating women, differently-abled individuals, tribal groups, and children with special needs. Camps will offer diagnostic tests such as blood tests, ECG, Echo, X-rays, scans, and screenings for tuberculosis, leprosy, cervical cancer, and breast cancer.
The programme supports universal health coverage and aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3. Tamil Nadu, recently named Best State in Organ Donation 2024, continues to lead in public health initiatives.
