CBSE to Discontinue Marks Verification for Class 12 Board Exams from This Year

Posted on: 14/Feb/2026 9:51:10 AM

In a major reform aimed at improving transparency and efficiency, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the marks verification process for Class 12 board exams will be discontinued from this academic year.

Why CBSE is Removing the Marks Verification Process

According to CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj, students usually apply for marks verification after results are declared due to concerns over totaling errors or discrepancies in evaluation.

However, CBSE is now shifting completely to a digital evaluation system for Class 12 answer sheets.

- Answer scripts will be assessed through a computer-based digital correction process.

- This system is expected to eliminate manual totaling errors and reduce human mistakes.

- As a result, the need for post-result marks verification will no longer exist.

With the full transition to digital correction and assessment:

- Evaluation errors will be minimized.

- Transparency in marking will improve.

- Faster and more accurate result processing will be ensured.

Therefore, from this year onwards, Class 12 CBSE board exam students will not have the option to apply for marks verification after results are declared.
