Heavy Rain Likely in Parts of Tamil Nadu Today: Chennai Met Department
The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain at one or two places in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Ranipet, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts today. Light to moderate rain is also likely across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from October 29 to November 3.
According to the department, Cyclone ‘Montha’, located over the west-central Bay of Bengal, is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kakinada this evening or night as a severe cyclonic storm, with winds reaching 90–110 kmph.
The department has also warned of strong surface winds (30–50 kmph) in the north Tamil Nadu coast and Puducherry areas today.
For Chennai, the sky will remain generally cloudy with moderate to heavy rain likely in some areas. On October 29, the sky will be partly cloudy, with light to moderate rain expected at a few places.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts, Gulf of Mannar, and Kanyakumari waters due to rough weather conditions.
