The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast moderate rainfall in isolated places across the Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu for the next three days.

According to the weather department, a trough extending from South Gujarat to Central Kerala at mean sea level is influencing the current weather conditions.

Rain Forecast (July 7–13, 2026)

From July 7 to July 13, 2026, isolated places in the Western Ghats districts are likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds of 40–50 km/h. Light rain is also expected in isolated parts of the rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Temperature Forecast

Between July 7 and July 11, 2026, there is no significant change expected in the maximum temperature across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. However, temperatures may rise slightly.

Maximum temperatures are also expected to remain 2–3°C above normal in a few places during this period.

Today (July 7, 2026):

The sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with light rain likely in a few areas of the city. Maximum temperatures may range between 38°C and 39°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to be between 29°C and 30°C.

Tomorrow (July 8, 2026):

Partly cloudy skies are expected to continue. Maximum temperatures are likely to be between 37°C and 38°C, with minimum temperatures remaining around 29°C to 30°C.

Fishermen Warning

The Regional Meteorological Centre has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along the South Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, and Kanyakumari Sea on July 7 and July 8, 2026, as strong winds of 40–50 km/h, with gusts reaching 60 km/h, are expected.
