Chennai RTE Admission 2026: Lottery Selection for 25% Private School Seats on May 22
The Chennai District Administration has announced that the lottery process for admissions under the 25% reservation quota in private schools will be conducted on May 22, 2026, at 10 AM.
Under the Right to Education (RTE) scheme, children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections are given admission every year in non-minority private self-financing schools across Chennai district.
More Than 5,000 Applications Approved
For the 2026–2027 academic year, online applications were invited from April 20 to May 18. According to the Chennai District Collector’s statement, a total of 7,004 applications were received, out of which 5,386 applications were found eligible.
The selection process will take place through a lottery system in 609 private schools across Chennai district.
Important Instructions for Parents
Parents who submitted applications under the RTE scheme are requested to attend the lottery event directly at their respective schools on May 22. Applicants should carry their registered application details while participating in the selection process.
