Tenders Floated for Global Sports City at Semmencheri
The State government has floated tenders for Phase I development of the Global Sports City at Semmencheri, off Old Mahabalipuram Road, spread across 127 acres.
The project, to be implemented by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority and the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, aims to create a world-class integrated sports ecosystem for training, talent development, community use and hosting international events.
Phase I, covering 83.25 acres, will be executed under the EPC mode and developed as a ‘learn and live’ sports district with core training, residential, and support infrastructure. Facilities include rowing and kayaking courses, BMX and skating tracks, archery and shooting ranges, tennis and padel courts, a go-kart track, climbing facility, and a multi-sports indoor arena.
The long-term project is planned in three phases, with future stages adding competition-ready venues and international-standard facilities. The selected EPC contractor will execute the project as per tender specifications.
