Track Maintenance Work: Trains to Southern Districts to Run on Alternative Routes

Due to track maintenance and engineering works, Southern Railway has announced temporary changes in train operations, affecting several trains running to and from the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The changes include route diversions, origin changes, and time adjustments on selected dates in February and early March.

The maintenance work is being carried out in sections falling under the Madurai Railway Division and Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division.

List of Trains Diverted and Route Details

Guruvayur – Chennai Egmore Express (Train No. 16128)

- On February 11, 13–14, 16, 18–19, 21, 23–28 and March 3

- Will run via Kottayam – Chengannur – Tiruvalla – Chengannoor

- The regular Ernakulam – Alappuzha coastal route will be skipped

Chennai Egmore – Guruvayur Express (Train No. 16127)

- On February 6, 12 and 17

- Will be delayed by about one hour from the scheduled departure time

Nagercoil – Mumbai CSMT Express (Train No. 16352)

- On February 8, 12, 15, 19, 22 and 26

- Will originate from Virudhunagar

- Diverted via Aruppukottai - Manamadurai - Karaikudi - Tiruchirappalli

Kanyakumari – Howrah Weekly Express (Train No. 12666)

- On February 7, 14, 21 and 28

- Diverted from Virudhunagar

- Will operate via Manamadurai - Karaikudi - Tiruchirappalli

Kanyakumari – Hyderabad Weekly Express (Train No. 07229)

- On February 6, 13, 20 and 27

- Will originate from Virudhunagar

- Diverted via Manamadurai - Karaikudi - Tiruchirappalli

Additional Information for Passengers

- All diverted trains will have additional halts at key junctions such as
Aruppukottai, Manamadurai, Karaikudi and Tiruchirappalli

- Some regular stations on the original routes will be skipped

- Minor delays are expected due to longer diversion routes
