Chennai Corporation Bans Breeding of Pitbull and Rottweiler Dogs

The Chennai Corporation Council has passed a resolution prohibiting the breeding of Pitbull and Rottweiler dog breeds within city limits.
According to the resolution adopted at the council meeting, individuals who newly purchase and raise Pitbull or Rottweiler dogs will be fined ₹1 lakh, effective from tomorrow (December 20). The decision has been taken in the interest of public safety and to regulate the ownership of certain dog breeds in the city.
Further details on implementation and enforcement are expected to be issued by the Chennai Corporation authorities.
