Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital Launches WhatsApp Service for OP Registration

Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) has launched a new WhatsApp-based OP registration service, allowing patients to book outpatient (OP) tickets from the comfort of their homes. The initiative is part of the Tamil Nadu government`s efforts to improve access to digital healthcare services.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Arunraj inaugurated the "NalamAI" WhatsApp chatbot and the "My Hospital" mobile application at the hospital. Health Secretary Darez Ahmed and Hospital Dean Dr. Santharaman were also present during the launch.

Using the NalamAI WhatsApp chatbot, patients can obtain OP tickets by sending "Hi" to 9619222999 and following the instructions provided in the chat. An Aadhaar number is not mandatory to access this service.

In addition to OP registration, patients can receive prescriptions, medical reports, and other hospital-related documents directly through WhatsApp. The service has already been introduced in 22 districts across Tamil Nadu.

The newly launched My Hospital App also enables patients and visitors to report issues related to hospital cleanliness. If a restroom is found to be unclean, users can scan the QR code displayed at the location and submit a complaint through the app, allowing hospital authorities to take immediate action.

Speaking to reporters, Minister Arunraj reiterated that Aadhaar is not mandatory for receiving treatment at government hospitals, reaffirming the government`s commitment to ensuring accessible and inclusive healthcare services for all.
