Aadi Perukku Falls on Sunday: Sub-Registrar Offices to Remain Closed in Tamil Nadu
Although Aadi Perukku is considered an auspicious occasion for starting new ventures and registering property, sub-registrar offices across Tamil Nadu will remain closed this year as the festival falls on a Sunday (August 3, 2025).
Traditionally, while many avoid initiating new activities during the Tamil month of Aadi, Aadi Perukku is an exception, with property registrations usually seeing a significant spike on that day. Initially, authorities had announced that the deed registration department would remain open despite it being a Sunday, to accommodate the expected demand.
However, following protests and objections raised by staff members, it has now been officially confirmed that the registration offices will not function on Aadi Perukku this year, as per a report by *Maalaimalar*. As a result, no registrations will take place on August 3, despite the day’s religious and cultural significance.
