Sacred Occasion of Thaipposam to be celebrated in Vadapalani Lord Muruga Temple!

The festival of `Thaipposam` is celebrated on the occasion when the star `Poosam` (of the 27 stars) occurs in the Tamil Calendar month of Thai on the Thithi of Full Moon Day (Pournami or Poornima)!

This Thaipposam festival is set to be celebrated at the Chennai Vadapalani Lord Muruga Temple tomorrow (Saturday, 4th February)! Accordingly, `Thiruppalliezhuchi` will be performed in the early morning at 4.30 AM! Subsequently, the main deity of Lord Muruga will be adorned with `Muthangi` (a shawl made with pearls) to offer Darshan for the devotees!

The milk brought by the devotees will be used to perform the `Milk Abhishekham` on the deity from 1.00 PM to 4.30 PM.  After this, the deity of Lord Sri Muruga will appear dressed with the `Shenbagappoo` (Champak) flowers!

At 8.30 PM< the deity of the Lord Palani Andavar (Lord Sri Muruga) will be taken on a procession across the 4 Mada Streets of the temple offering Darshan to the devotees!  

The Vadapalani Andavar Temple Administration has appealed to the devotees visiting the temple on this sacred occasion MUST WEAR FACIAL MASKS AND ALSO ADHERE TO MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING!
