Special camps at 180 places in Chennai to collect traffic violation dues!!

About Rs 60 lakhs has been collected by the Greater Chennai Traffic Police or GCTP from several camps that were held at about 180 locations across the Chennai city in the last 10 days.

Every day, more than 6000 traffic violation cases get booked on an average and this was mentioned by the Chennai police. In April 2022, a call centre system was introduced to sensitize the traffic violators who have not paid their penalty amount to GCTP.

It was confirmed by an official release that the response from the traffic violators was poor and  therefore special camps were organized to collect the pending traffic violation money.

On 12th January 2023, camps were held at 10 places in the coity and as manya s 1022 traffic violators paid their pending due amount worth Rs 11.29lakhs. As many as 1615 traffic violation cases were disposed of on that day. On 19th January and on 20th January 2023, special checkpoints were organized at 168 locations in Chennai to dispose of pending traffic violation cases. It is noteworthy that the violators were sensitized and encouraged to pay their pending dues either by credit card/debit card. QR codes, or by any other online mode of payment etc.

It was brought out by the release that 4083 violators paid dues and 16072 ces were disposed of with a fine amount of Rs 48.6 lakhs in the special drive conducted by GCTP. Information is that the maximum penalty due amount was collected from the traffic violators in Mount, Thoraipakkam and Madipakkam traffic police stations.
