The number of Covid-19 positive cases has to reduce further then only there would not be any total lockdown in Chennai and in Tn. This was as per the health minister Mr. M. Subramanian.

It must be noted that on Sunday 1.57lakh samples were tested in TN and 30580 were positive. On Saturday it was 30744.The number of persons who died due to this infection has increased in the same time period. Unlike in the second infection wave, the case fatality is low now in the third infection wave. The news is that the cases have been declining in Chennai now. From around 9000 fresh cases reported in the last week, just 6383 cases were reported on Saturday in Chennai.

It must be noted that TPR in Chennai district has dropped to 23.6% now and Chennai is now in the 12th position with respect to TPR. In other districts in TN such as Coimbatore with 3912 new cases, Erode with 554 new cases. Tiruvallur with 984 new cases etc and this has made the TN states average TPR to be high. Truth is that TPR of TN is now 20% meaning every fifth sample tests positive. The number of active cases in TN crossed 2 lakh now. In TN, as many as 200954 persons have been undergoing treatment for Covid-19 infection.

In anticipation for more demand for oxygen, the TN government has purchased 327 oxygen generators and 17500 concentrators. The health secretary Mr. Radhakrishnan has mentioned that at present the oxygen demand in TN is 117metric tons per day.  He added that the oxygen demand was 530 MT per day in the second wave. The public must never let their guards down and they must get vaccinated as soon as possible. He concluded that the senior citizens and frontline workers must get their booster doses without fail.
