The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there may be rain or rain with thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Pudhucherry due to the thermal convection and the southwest monsoon season.

New depression zone formed in the Bay of Bengal - prospects of rain in coastal areas
With the onset of south-west monsoon rains from yesterday (Wednesday, 8th June), it has been raining with strong winds daily in the evenings. It has rained quite heavily for an hour in some areas.
