Low-pressure area over the south-east Bay of Bengal intensified on Tuesday, and was set to gain strength during the night to grow into a depression. In view of this The Port Department on Monday.

Chennai Meteorological Centre has mentioned that there will be heavy rains on 1st and 2nd December in one or two places of coastal Tamil Nadu.

Before reading further, please take a look at the IMD definition of intensity rainfall. This is the 1st low pressure in this NEM moving towards Tamil Nadu coast. The previous two went away.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that a new depression zone has formed over the Bay of Bengal . Due to this, rains are expected for 4 days in Tamil Nadu starting from 1st December.

Yesterdays trough of low pressure at mean sea level over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman sea now lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and neighborhood.
