Last year the North East Monsoon rains were above normal in Tamil Nadu. In a single day 50 cms rainfall was recorded in Chennai and its suburbs. Because of this the whole Chennai was flooded.

It was 3.30 am in the morning when i started tracking the radar the intense storms moved into Pulicat area and missed Chennai. As the main storms moved into the sea, it spread the stratiform clouds over Chennai.

Was not well, hence fell in deep sleep wen rains started yesterday after tracking them till it reached Chennai. Yesterday there was abundant CAPE (3500 j/kg) and perfect convergence of storms coupled with urban.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are high prospects of rain in Tamil Nadu in the next 2 days.A cyclonic format has developed over the central-west part of Bay of Bengal. Because of this, it has rained.
