Breaking news: Change in track in the path of the Cyclone Vardah
Vardah is a Severe Cyclone now and massive in size. Its not going to come with same intensity to our coast as u can see in one of the image that dry air will move in at one stage and will weaken the Cyclone.

Cyclone Vardah - Dry air awaits as it near the AP coast
I have seen newspapers and international news sites reporting over 130 km/hr winds. Yes the Cyclone is going to intensify in open waters but as it nears the coast it is expected to weaken a lot.

Rains expected due to low pressure in Bay of Bengal
Low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is now set to culminate in the formation of a cyclone.The Regional Meteorological Centre has mentioned that due to this, there will be rains in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
