Rains are expected in most parts of Tamil Nadu and Chennai
An official of the Meteorological Centre has mentioned: Depression which was formed in south west bay of Bengal is still stationed there. Due to this there was 5 cm rain at Kaatupakkam near Chennai.

Isolated rains in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

Why there is no sufficient rainfall during this monsoon?Meteorological Department explains
Southwest monsoon rains withdraw on 30th October and the northeast monsoon set in. Though the monsoon set in late, heavy rainfall was expected but there was only sporadic rainfall in some places.
