IMD Chennai HWSR recorded 110 km/hr while the pressure drop was huge at 975 mb. Based on pressure, it seems cyclone has made landfall as Very Severe Cyclonic storm itself.

The Deep Depression over north Tamil Nadu moved further west-southwestwards during past 06 hrs with a speed of 20 kmph, weakened into a depression and lay centred at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 13th December, 2016.
