Chennai Meteorological Centre has mentioned that rains are expected during the first week of March. At a time when there is scorching heat during the month of February, there is severe dearth of drinking water.

Steady sour in temperature is observed in the past week and the city residents need to be prepared for warmer days ahead. Hot and dry days will keep continuing until end of February.

Regional Meteorological Centre in a bulletin has mentioned: Since the trough which developed near Kanyakumari did not move towards Tamil Nadu, the dry weather will prevail in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Chennai Meteorological Centre has mentioned that there will be rains today in Tamil Nadu due to convection. In Tamil Nadu, the northeast monsoon withdrew on 4th January. After this there was weak trough.

An official of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has mentioned: For the last few days there was scorching heat during the day time and coolness in the nights in Tamil Nadu.

Due to overlay rotation near Kanyakumari, rains are expected in one or two places of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
