After occurring for almost the entire month of October, rains finally took a backseat in Bengaluru. Though the last 48 hours brought some traces of showers for the capital of Karnataka, the last 24 hours were completely dry for the city.

The city of Chennai has been witnessing light rains from the past few days. In fact, before the arrival of the Northeast Monsoon, the capital city has remained slightly rainy all throughout the month of October.

The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre. S. Balachandran, informed that there are good prospects of early commence of the Northeast monsoon rainy season (which gives abundant rain in Tamil Nadu).

This year, Bengaluru has received heavy to very heavy rains and thundershowers during the month of September and October. In fact, Karnataka as a whole has recorded good showers during this time.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that a depression (low-pressure zone) has formed over the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, there are prospects of light rain in the next 2 days in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Scattered light rains and thundershower activities have been occurring over Tamil Nadu including Chennai from the past four to five days. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Chennai witnessed very light rains to the tune of 0.6 mm.
