The southern districts of Tamil Nadu has borne the brunt of the damages caused by the cyclone Okchi. Kanyakumari district, especially, has been most severely affected and has been cut off like an island.

Very severe Cyclone Ockhi is moving in a north northwest direction since last 12 hours. At present, the system is 14.5 N and Longitude 16.5 E about 590 km NNW of Amini Divi, 690 km SSW of Mumbai and 870 km SSW of Surat.

The low pressure in the Bay of Bengal will become a Depression by tomorrow and Deep Depression subsequently and a possible Cyclone too in open waters.

No Cyclone Threat to Tamil Nadu in coming week. Yes the Depression will form and will become Deep Depression too and in worst case a cyclone too but it is expected move towards Andhra.

The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Ockhi over Lakshadweep area and neighboring Southeast Arabian sea has further moved northwestwards with a speed of 14 kmph amid the last six hours.
