PMS & Related Complaints: Some Food Items To Be Included & Some to Be Removed!

Menstrual periods and related physical complaints are indeed a routine for every woman! They encounter a variety of discomforts including pain, swelling, mental stress, mental fatigue, and back pain, etc.

Here are some tips for the women on this issue – certain food items to be included in the regular and certain food items to be removed from the regular diet:

Items to be reduced/removed in the regular diet:

  • Salt: There is a well-known saying any dish without salt can as well be thrown on the dustbin! Nevertheless, it is best to take dishes with less salt quantum during the menstruation period! The reason: Salt contains sodium! Sodium tends to reduce the water content in the body! This may lead to stomach pain!
  • Coffee: It is best to avoid drinking coffee during the menstruation period! A survey taken in this regard has established that drinking coffee during the period leads to the diseases related to the menstruation period! So, better avoid drinking coffee!
  • Refined sugar items: As refined sugar items have excess carbohydrate in them, it is better to avoid these! Note that excess intake of carbohydrate will directly lead to excess sodium! As mentioned above, sodium increases the extent of the pains! So, avoid taking refined sugar items!

Items to be increased/included in the regular diet

  • Water: Drink lots of water! This will establish the body’s required water quantum! Taking water helps remove the unwanted items in the digestion system through the urine. So, ensure taking excess water during the menstruation periods!
  • Potassium-rich food items: Take additional quantum of potassium-rich food items! This helps maintain the right and balanced quantum of sodium in the body. Further, it reduces the body pain! Note in this regard: Vegetables, greens, bananas, and tomatoes are rich in Potassium.

Physical Exercises: Apart from all above suggestions, it is always better to do physical exercise! Do not avoid doing physical exercise under the pretext it causes further discomfort! In fact, doing physical exercises will soothe the body`s physical conditions! Even if not inclined to do complicated physical exercises, try at least taking regular walking exercises.
