Monitoring the blood sugar levels regularly and to keep the sugar levels under control is essential in those who are diagnosed with type -1 or type-2 diabetes. It is true that our blood sugar levels fluctuate with the day to day activities also. It is normal that the blood sugar levels rise or fall even in those persons who are not diagnosed with the condition. The person would face many issues when the blood sugar levels remain high constantly.

When too much glucose is present in the blood, then the person is said to have high blood sugar levels or hyperglycaemia. Managing the blood sugar levels is important even in those who are not diagnosed with diabetes. It is worthy to mention that if a person has got high blood sugar levels then his or her body would take a long time to heal or increase the risk of infections or long term impact on various organs like kidneys, eyes etc. High blood sugar levels can also lead to strokes and heart attacks etc.

Various surprising factors that are responsible for the high blood sugar levels in non-diabetics are

PCOS:
Women in the reproductive age would get hormonal imbalance due to PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome. High production of testosterone, insulin etc could take place in those women diagnosed with PCOS. The woman would be insulin resistant and they would not be able to use all the glucose in the blood to produce energy.

Stress:
The hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline etc could get increased because of unmanaged stress. This would then spike the blood sugar levels.

Infections:
The levels of stress hormones would become more due to the infections. It is important to note that this hormone would block the ability of insulin to remove excess glucose from the blood leading to constant high blood sugar levels in the person.

Medications:
It is believed that certain medications like dopamines, immune-suppressants like tacrolimus and cyclosporine and corticosteroids could activate the enzymes present in the blood. This would in turn keep the blood sugar levels at constant rise.

Obesity:
The body would become resistant to insulin due to the presence of excess fat cells. These excess fat cells would also make it difficult to remove glucose from the blood and use it to produce energy.

Managing blood sugar levels in non-diabetics:
In non-diabetic persons, unhealthy lifestyle can lead to increase in the blood sugar levels. Poor diet and absence of physical activity can spike the blood sugar levels in these persons. By managing the day to o day activities we would be able to manage the blood sugar levels. It is important that non-diabetics must not skip meals or eat at erratic times etc.
