The district election office conducted a one day drive on Sunday. This was aimed at more number of voters enroll their names in the voting list at various polling stations. Because of practical reasons, there prevailed commotions in including names in the voters list. The camp was held between 10 am and 5 pm. “We don’t find enough banners or notices that attract the people. There is also a lag in proper guidance,” said a public.
Public can enroll their names online or get it done at the 15 zonal offices of Corporation of Chennai. This can be done till March 19th. One has to submit the form along with an identity proof and residence proof for enrolling their name.
“I went to a polling booth, but they had only 25 forms. These had serial numbers which refrained us from taking photocopies of them. I couldn’t register my name. What is the use of such a camp without having enough forms?” questioned a consumer rights activist.
