To transform as many as 46 schools located in 28 places in Chennai, GCC would spend an amount of Rs 95 crores through Smart City project.
It is now said that in a few years of time GCC would run schools and these schools would be spoken for their learning outcomes, infrastructure and teacher training like government schools present in New Delhi.
The officials have pointed out that the proposal was ready and tenders would be called for identifying consultants. Detailed Project Report or DPR would be prepared by these consultants. It is worthy to note that this project would be funded by the French Development Agency as a part of CITIIS challenge.
It was revealed that a baseline study would be done to assess the performance of corporation school students, their proficiency in different subjects, competency of teachers plus other infrastructural issues. To study the improvements in the government schools in New Delhi, the team would visit New Delhi soon. It must be noted that 6 broad focus areas have been identified for change.
These areas include physical infrastructure, digital infrastructure, teacher training skill development, extracurricular activities, roping in NGO�s who have worked in the education sector a smart pedagogy and valuation system. Point to be noted is the infrastructure part included virtual reality or VR labs, modern sports equipment, specifically designed toilets for girls etc. An official later revealed that implementation of the systems where the teachers would be able to focus on every child individually are present in their plans.
