Around 500 cases of violation in bursting crackers in TN

Posted on: 29/Oct/2019 9:32:39 AM
Gone are the days when people belonging to Chennai and TN would burst crackers for the whole day on the day of Deepavali.

It must be taken into account that the Supreme Court or SC had allowed just 2 hours for the bursting of crackers on the day of Deepavali.  Information that is brought out is TN police had registered as many as 497 cases of violation of the SC order on the time limit for crackers bursting on the Deepavali day.

It must not be forgotten that in the year 2018 there were as many as 2176 cases registered for violating the time limit of bursting crackers on the Deepavali day.

The shocking piece of information now is out of a total of 497 cases of violation in TN there were 179 cases registered in Chennai city alone.

As per the police data, it is revealed that out of 31 police districts, the cases of violation were registered only in just 12 police districts in the state of TN. It must be noted that in places such as Villupuram, Cuddalore, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai etc there were no such types of violation cases registered.

It has been mentioned that the decrease in the number of people bursting crackers was responsible for the absence of violation cases. Tiruvallur police were busy registering as many as 67 cases of violation and Virudhunagar police registered as many as 999 cases. In 2018, TN police registered as many as 2176 cases of violation of SC order and out of that Chennai city topped the list with 359 cases of violation.

Point to be noted is TN government had announced a 2 hour time (6 am to 7 am and 7 pm to 8 pm) slot for the bursting of crackers on the day of Deepavali. This was after the apex court order. Many people on the Deepavali day burst crackers without adhering to the time limits.

It is worthy to note here that the police had booked cases of violation under Section 188 of the IPC (Disobedience to an order duly promulgated by the public servant).

Important information is a person found guilty under this section could be sentenced to simple imprisonment for a term that might extend up to 1 month with or without a fine. This fine amount could go to Rs 200 also. Under section 285 of the IPC (Negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) also, police booked violators.
